COVID week 7. April 26 - May2

We headed into our 7th week of lock down and the kids headed back to school.  The week started on Sunday morning with an early morning ride for Dad and church.  In the early morning Dad did not see the flock of flamingoes that landed in our front yard.  They did not arrive on their own, but came by special delivery by the Jones family.  You have to make fun however you can these days.

We have also continued our little back and forth with the Semple's.  The girls (Holly) made lots of little fans and the kids dropped them over, followed by a bit of gardening. 

Other adventures include the great slice bake off.  Here is mint slice and caramel slice.

During the week we mentioned to Mario, our neighbour, that we had looked at their food wholsale business on line.  They are starting to do domestic deliveries as many of their regular restaurant clients are shut down.  We also mentioned Ed liked the look of teh 3kg Nutella tub.  The next day Mario rang the doorbell with a delivery.  Lots of samples of great Italian food and a huge tub of Nutella.  Ed hugged it and Holly ogled it. It was very generous of Mario, and the kids were in heaven.

As school went back we were going a little bit stir crazy.  Kate woke up having had a dream about cookies, and so wanted cookies for breakfast.  She did then go and bake a whole lot of them, and dig up the old cookie monster toy that was not working.
The weather also turned wintery this week, which was a bit sad for all of us.

Besides school and work we tried to make the best of the cold weather and lock down.  Again we were going a bit crazy.  Ed cooked nutella cookies for Mario (dressed in his new "flanno" from online shop). We got the Turner's with the flock of flamingoes, we havd board games and watched "The Lion King" in German!  Playing "Settlers of Catan" brought out the competitor in many of us, and he girl who chose to watch movies in German also developed various weird hair styles. 

The week ended with an interesting phenomenon with Sydney Diocese.  Someone posted a picture of all the parishes looking for a Rector, 34!!  Many are now not really able to look for anyone, but a signal that there is something unhealthy happening here.  If we had stayed in the system we could have had our pick (maybe).  

The end of another week was celebrated with deluxe banana splits, and they are announcing that restrictions will start to ease shortly.  Here's hoping.
