Research trip: Sweden and the U.S. 6

This morning the weather was a little bit cool.  It has been quite lovely spring weather so far, and really the morning was just fine, only a little cool.  I chose to take the optimist view, it may have been -1, but the real feel was 1 degree in the positive.  So it was a positive start to the day.

Given my positivity, there was a definite need for coffee, and something chocolate.  It is the first chocolate option I have taken up for breakfast. Promise!

After being caffeinated it was time to head off to the conference.  How do you do a conference in Sweden?  With a Jazz band thank you very much.  Stay classy Sweden!

There was a great keynote talk from one of the really nice researchers into what they call "caring science."  It is a good combination of words I think.  We can be so tempted not to care in a our scientific discovery, but putting them together ensures we really have to think about the what, why, where and when of caring. Thanks Mats!

After a big few sessions, it was back home, past a really cool Volvo (well... Polestar) electric vehicle.  There are so many Volvos!

In the evening was the conference evening function.  It was held in a museum that used to be a tractor factory.  It had some great old pieces of machinery and a was also a bit of a shrine to Volvo farm equipment.
And then again the band was back.  This time with the band leader's daughters as the singers.  I have a great video of them singing "Fernando" by Abba.  Classic Stuff!
Finally I wandered home, grabbed an ice-cream to catch some sleep before a 6:30am video meeting. Yay!  See you all tomorrow.
