2.10 Tour in the Vosges

We woke up late after our long day yesterday. We think we are acclimatised to Euro time as we all woke up late and we (Sal and Mark) have just got in from dinner at 10:55pm. It was a beautiful mid thirties day today with magnificent blue skies and only a tiny breeze. After a short brekkie we packed up and headed to the tour.  It has the last 40k or so that Mark checked out on the bike yesterday.  We drove to for about an hour and 15 minutes to Le Thilot to pick up bread and patisseries through beautiful landscapes. We then headed up to our perch for the day and got to park our car right on the course, so no long walk, Yay!

We enjoyed a great morning and afternoon reading, lying about, exploring the woods, writing on the roads and generally giving Australia a bad name to those around us.

The tour came quickly by and was enjoyed by all. Holly had a huge grin as they passed while Kate tried her hardest to knock cyclists off with the Australian flag waving.  She is nothing if not keen.

We then drove back over Balloon d'Alsace. Hilliare Balloch walked over her on his pilgrimage to Rome.  So in his honour we stopped for frites and pancakes.  We also got to watch the final few kms of the race on their 📺

When we got home the kids were pretty exhausted so they had a quick meal at home so they could watch a movie.  Sal and Mark went and wandered the streets and grabbed an interesting dinner. Neither of us got what we were expected. Sal ordered a Munster cheese tarte, and Mark a pork knuckle.  Sal got a pizza like dish and Mark a piece of ham with no crackling. Ripped off!

It was still anout 28 degrees at 10pm so we kept talking over our Pinot Gris.

It was another fun day in and around the Alsace region.
