Thank you Holly for writing the blog for today.
Some more information might be helpful following your succint account for the day.
We sadly left Colmar and drove through Switzerland to reach Lamoura in France. It was a long drive and no Maccas to stop at so we had to make do with a boulangerie.
The views from the car were amazing.
So many beautiful towns.
In Switzerland the roads were packed with Cyclists riding up the hills to reach the Tour.
We drove as close as we could to the Tour and ended in a little French Oasis. What better place to wait for the Tour.
The water was pretty cold but perfect for a 33 degree day. We all went in for a swim, Mark donned his fluro funkitas and goggles and swam laps of the lake whilst the kids and I threw around a waterpolo ball. Given the French do not swim very well, I think we were abit of a novelty. (Or maybe it was just Mark's Fluro budgie smugglers)
A 100m walk took us to the Tour route and the publicity Caravan, where Kate was thrown most of the booty, including an Aboriginal pin from South Australia and flags for the local region. All I was hoping for was some Madelines, and when that car drove past they decided to throw about 20 at me!!!
We then walked to a slight incline between the 2km and 3km flags, claimed the "2" press sign with the Australian flag and waited.
The boys were working hard on another hot day in the mountains so they went past us relatively slowly.
My favourite moment was when Kate and Mark called out to Jens Keukekeire of Orica Green Edge as he was going up the hill past us. He turned completely around to see who the weird Aussies were and gave Mark and Kate the most confused look! #doingaustraliaproud
We started walking back to the car before the "autobus" came past. As we were walking along the road, Matthew Haymen rode past, saw Mark decked in his Aussie flag and shorts, and threw him an Orica drink bottle. #straighttothepoolroom.
He drove to our new home at Aix Les Bains for the next four nights. Sadly not the same standard as Colmar or our original accomodation when mum and dad were coming... but it has a swimming pool opposite with a slide and the view is pretty cool.
Kids cannot wait till tomorrow as we are all so hot and sweaty!
