2.8 Slice of Heaven: Goodbye Liege🇧🇪, Hello Colmar🇫🇷

CAUTION: ADULT THEMES.
The day started of with yogurts, juicy nectarines and beautiful patisseries after Dads run in the beautiful and sunny (what a surprise) Belgium. He stopped by his favourite coffee shop for the last time.

We then gave our farewells to Liege and packed the car with all the luggage and then we went off to see the third stage of the Tour de France.
We drove along the beautiful and well loved Belgium town of Verviers, ready to catch some booty (booty is the free merchandise thrown by the publicity caravan about 2 hours before the riders come through), and meet some riders. When we got to the course we got a really good car park right next to were the riders were. Ready for the booty, mum prepared everyone for their spots so we could get the maximum amount of booty. Since mum wore a hat that said Belgium on it, lots of the people in the booty cars stopped and talked to mum.

It was funny as we had no idea what they were talking about because they were talking in French. Mum and I got a lot of booty from all the people giving all the free stuff out gave it mainly to mum. Kate stood on a corner and also scored and Ed was also showered with freebies.
We walked back to the car with all the booty ready to walk down to see the team busses and to see people race. The walk from the car to the start was only supposed to be one or two kilometres but it turned out to be four and a bit kilometres. When we got to the busses Ed and Dad went to the Orica Scott bus and Mum, Kate and I stayed at the BMC bus.Dad and Ed got a selfie with Simon Yates and Esteban Chavez.

Kate, Mum and I held our Ritchie Port sign near the BMC bus but we only got a glimpse from Ritchie. We called out to him and he gave us a shy smile.  Mark Cavendish also stepped right near us to fix his bike.

We missed the start but we got Paparazzi from all the Belgium and French people as we were dressed in Australian cloths. Dad wore his Australian tshirt, flag and the Belgium joker hat.  Everyone stared at him and smiled.  We walked back to the car and they were handing more free stuff out. Kate was keen to grab as much as she could, she and Mum grabbed a handful until she worked out they were handing out condoms!! Then we got back to the car and ate our bread with saucisson, cheese and veggies. We got in the car and started to drive to Colmar. It was kinda boring in the car till we stopped in Germany except for that Mum and Dad got really angry at the Nav system as it had a different mind and took as to random places. We stopped at Germany for a little while when we realised everyone and everything is weird. We went to a restaurant and they didn't sell food till 6 or didn't take credit cards and the bike shops were all closed or all had mountain bikes.  We walked past a strange shop with ladies sitting in the windows who seemed very interested in Dad and then past a shop that helped smoke and grow plants that are illegal in Australia. We stuck to bretzeles and hot chips.
Our Aussie toilet humour kept us amused though.

As we started in the car trip again Ed was making really, I mean really, bad Dad jokes and made one up for everyone's names that had no logic. For example one was, there once were parents that called her daughter stole because she stole things but then she changed her name to Sally or, what do you call a boy who lived in wood, Edward.

" A slice of Heaven" started playing in the car and the mood of the car lifted.  As we neared Colmar everyone was excited especially because the navigation system was trying to make us to keep turning around. We took some back roads through the beautiful French countryside.

When we got to Colmar we unpacked and Mum and Dad went for a walk to get some bread while Kate, Ed and me all watched movies. When Mum and Dad came back we all had a nice dinner of bread and salad. Just from our short walk Mum and Dad found other Aussies but also tea, chocolate, ice cream shops, antique shops and old book shops.  We know Rob and Sue would have loved it here. Then we flopped into bed after a tiring day with this beautiful scene from our window. We can't wait to explore Colmar for the next few days.
