Summer fun #2

Here we are after our second day of summer fun. Sal posted the picture of “inspiration board” on Facebook. Some people loved it, some thought it crazy and in some it induced guilt. Number 1 child is still miffed by the whole thing and thinks that no screens is a waste of her life.  Having said that, however, she wrapped all the Christmas presents, swam 2km, read an entire book, had a sleep in, helped get dinner and generally had what used to be called a life before screens started.

Meanwhile, number 2 got a sleep in and went shopping with Margaret and David for her birthday.  She got 3 love.y rings from Pandora.  The shop assistant was a bit miffed by her “big knuckles” and slender fingers. She asked “do you play lots of sport?” Why yes she does.  She also got to play with LEGO, swim 2km in Canterbury pool (another one for our list) read half a book and help with dinner etc.

Number 3 had a big day too.  He got up for an early squad at 5:45am, came home to have a meat pie and then go and play 3 hours tennis in the rain.  Such fun! On return cooked lunch for mum, played LEGO, went shopping for dinner, and even read a chapter of a book!

No screens from 7:30am-4pm and they are all still alive.

Both adults had to work, but managed to get either a bay run at dawn (Mark) or a swim in the lane beside the girls (Sally)

In the evening we had our good friends the Semple’s over and consumed a nice “ash Brie” which was not actually from Ashbury. Sals home made lasagna and Christine’s chorizo potato bake were gobbled up by everyone so that we all cleared our plates.

We finally worked out what Spotify thinks are our favourite music genres from what we listened to during the year. Kate, Holly and Sally all “dance pop” Ed was “rock” and Mark was “Neo Mellow” who knew.

A great day and lots of fun. Bring on tomorrow
