Mark had done a reconnaissance the day before on his bike and found a beautiful river and patisserie. That was enough to tempt us all to go.
We realised Chinon is so much more. It's history involved Joan of Arc and the Knights of the Round Table... Holly's favourite stories.
"In 1308, this site was the stage for an important event in the history of the Templar Order. The "Grand Master" Jacques de Molay and a few other high dignitaries of the Order were imprisoned here before being judged, and were later burned at the stake in Paris.
In 1427, during the Hundred Years’ War, Charles VII’s court was established at the Château of Chinon. It was here that he met with Joan of Arc in March of 1429. Her intention was to claim his legitimacy and convince him to be crowned in Reims."
Kate and Ed bought themselves swords to solve any siblry rivalry.

In the town, we found an old bookshop with Maps... So we lost Mark for a while....
Until we got hungry and found the Patisserie that we had originally come for. Holly and Ed are consistent in their choice...Religious Chocolate for Holly and Macaroons for Ed. Kate, Mark and I are eating through all the different options.
