Day 37: Tranquillo Umbria

After a big day of driving, sightseeing, hospitaling etc yesterday, it was a relaxing day for us all.  We slept in and had breakfast on our terrace that looks over olive trees to the hills on the other side of the lake.  Life is tough!!
It was then into the pool for a swim.  We rate this as our best pool so far.  It has grass around it and almost no one else around as well as being almost the perfect temperature! We ranked the pools at each hotel so far tonight at dinner. We each gave mark out of 10
Disneyland hotel pool 13/50
Loire valley 26/50
Cauterets 32/50
Ax les Thermes 41/50
Marquay 42/50
Casamaggiore 47/50

We then headed into the nearest large town, Castiigone del Lago.  It was a lovely ancient town right on the lake.  We found a great bike shop for daddy who was keen to spend lots of money on bike clothes, but will buys something tomorrow instead.

We then found a nice restaurant for pasta and pizza.  The highlight for us all was the Ricotta pudding with zucchini, zucchini flowers and pesto. Yum all round!!!
After lunch we got more gelato and daddy's first Italian cappuccino.

We then got some groceries for dinner and headed home.  Sal and the kids enjoyed some down time around the pool while daddy took out his Campagnolo equipped Pinarello for an Italian ride.  It was a bit like a homecoming for the bike around lake Trasimeno.
There was more pool and then a salad for dinner. Our big change this holiday has been the appreciation of salad as a meal.  Tonight ours was covered in Proscutio, rockmelon and walnuts. Yum again.
Tomorrow will be more relaxing and hopefully some shopping!!
