Day 22: Dordogne

Today was our lazy day by the pool.  We got the hotel breakfast for the first time in our trip.  It was worth it.

We sat out in the balcony of the restaurant with a fantastic view.  Sal and Mark sat there looking at the view and enjoying the sunshine after breakfast while the kids played ping pong/ chess/foosball/trampolining etc.  The view is great.
We then lazed over to the pool for some reading in the sun and swimming.

Mark and Holly walked the 50 metres to the shop for bread and discovered a car rally was in town.

Mark and Ed then went up to watch the rally that was using the winding local roads just over the hill.  Ed is definitely a Porsche man!!!

Then we ate the fresh baguettes with the cheese and preserved meats we bought at the markets in Richelieu. After more swimming we headed into Sarlat la Caneda, the largish local town.  We had been told it was great.  There were lots of old streets and shops, but it had become a real tourist spot.  Many of the shops sold stuff made in China and the restaurants, of which there were hundreds all seemed pretty touristy.   We reckon the wonderful character  and nature of the town got discovered and is slowly being commercialised.  It was a bit of a pity really.

Crepes for dinner. Another thing ticked of Sal's mental bucket list.

We returned home for a wine on our verandah at sunset.
