Day 25: Farewell France - Hello Greece! Car craziness.

Today was the day we said our goodbyes to France as we headed to Greece for the final part of our Odyssey (do you get that subtle Ancient Greece reference?).  We left the lovely town of Annecy and headed to Geneva Airport, a 35-minute drive.  It was now time to return our hire car, get on a plane and then let other people do the driving.  We left with plenty of time to get to the airport and then relax until we got on the plane. When we returned the car to Avis (On the Swiss side of the border) the rental car attendant said, "Wow, that is a huge one-way fee. 1100 Euro (About $2000)". He explained that the Swiss side charged a huge fee, but the French side of the airport does not.  You learn something every day. He directed us to a QR code that gave directions on how to save that $2000 with just a 10-minute drive.  With the lure of saving $12,000 per hour ($2,000 for 10 minutes of work). We re-packed the car and set off for France.  It is not well signposted, and with time ticking down to check-in, the stress was building.  With a wrong turn here or there, we reckon we went from France to Switzerland to France to Switzerland and then back to France again.  They make you work for that money.  Here is the border and wonderful signage.

Anyway, after 'earning' all that money, and adding some stress, we checked in and calmed down (after a small conversation about whether or not they wanted to take my bike on the plane).

We flew out and had a great view of the Alps below us.

The view of the first part of Greece was equally as impressive.

Upon arrival, all of our luggage arrived, and we set out for transport to our accommodation in Porto Rafti. Because we had the bike we needed a big vehicle, and so we used the local taxi app to order a "small truck".  Apparently this is a small truck in Greece!!

Despite the driver's best attempt to jam everything in, we declined his offer. Take two; that's better!

The driver was great, and a little surprised we were going to Porto Rafti, saying, "So what are you going to do?" Relax was our answer.  Despite it being only 25 minutes from Athens airport, the driver said he only comes "out here" every 4-5 years.  The town is, according to him, where honeymooners go. So we are going to be relaxing honeymooners for a few days! With this view, we can handle that.
