Greece is beautiful and warm and vibrant. The people are relaxed and friendly and always happy to help. Whether it is the host of our apartment, the lady in the grocery store insisting I buy only the freshest salad ingredients and that I mix the different type of leaves or the man at the beachside cafe/chair hire place. They just want me to relax.
And who wouldn’t want to relax when the water is so blue and clear and the freddo cappuccino (not a chocolate but an iced cappucino) is so good.

Then there are the things that make it difficult to relax. It is probably cultural and a reflection of our Australian way of life and things I enjoy each day.
A street back from our main strip along the beach, there are many half built houses, rubbish, broken windows, graffiti and not curbs and gutter. Often these are next to big, large houses. And supposedly the plumbing is so old you cannot flush toilet paper down the toilet but it goes in the little bin next to the toilet! Finally, I find reading and understanding Greek really hard. Seriously it’s all Greek to me. Mark enjoys the challenge of translating menus.. but remember he has learnt classical Greek at Bible college so has some background.
 | We have enjoyed our first full day of Greece and love so much here. We watched Oir Big Fat Greek Wedding and it highlighted so many beautiful things about the Greek Culture. But we couldn’t imagine living here and it doesn’t call us as much as the French Alps.
On reflection, maybe that is just withdrawal symptoms from our overdosing on French patisserie’s and croissants
